Please note change of venue to
Mecumstraße 10, 40223 Düsseldorf (Bilk)
Vortragssaal, Room 208.
This red brick building, formerly used by Barmer, is
near the bus stop: Feuerbachstraße, on the bus routes
780, 782 and 785, which go from Heinrich-Heine-Allee
towards Erkrath, Solingen or Langenfeld. It is 350
(5 minutes) along Fruchtstraße from the metro and tram
stop “Karolingerplatz”. From the mainline station, the tram
704 goes to Karolingerplatz.
Our November meeting has to be cancelled!
The new venue will not be available in time;
we still hope we can meet for
the AGM in December.
English humour in language, life and theatre
Most English humour is characterised by irony, satire, often even sarcasm. Prof. Glaap shows that the quick verbal gag, the one-liner, the elaborate punning and wordplay often deal with what people have in common, rather than with the differences between them. (With handouts.)
